Each previous profile can be found in the News Archive section. #5 Peavey Wolfgang TR Transparent Purple Flame Nickname: "The Fat Kid" Built: 2000 Acquired: January 2005 (Sold: March 2008) Story: Only a short time after buying my very first Wolfgang I concluded I would indeed want to own one of the standard flame top models, and I recall browsing the Peavey website semi-frequently to view the color options. At the time my favorite transparent color was purple, and I fully intended to make that my second Wolfgang purchase. Over the course of several years, though, I never surrendered the cash to make the purple Wolfgang a reality. And after I bought Wolfgang #4 I effectively decided that, since I owned one version of each kind of production Wolfgang, I would buy no more. (In hindsight the preceding statement weighs heavy with irony.) After voicing mild disappointment to my girlfriend (now wife) that I'd never own the purple Wolfgang I'd wanted for so long, she bought this guitar for me off eBay and said I could take my time paying her for it (of course she remained the official owner until the point of full reimbursement). This Wolfgang turned into something of a funny letdown, however. The eBay pictures were pretty terrible, so upon arrival we found the purple top to have faded just slightly, thus portions of it took on a mild pink-ish or salmon tint (though the top wood looked like it was never all that figured to begin with). Moreover, the neck was very dirty and not kept in proper adjustment. I gave this Wolfgang countless cleanings and adjustments, and after a few hardware tweaks and a fret dressing it was reconditioned to the point of being an excellent player. The purple flame top was doomed to never be very impressive, hence its affectionate nickname: The Fat Kid. Despite developing a goofy attachment to this Wolfgang, it just never got the playing time it deserved. So when I bought another purple arch top Wolfgang in February 2008, The Fat Kid was sold shortly thereafter. It is missed. The Fat Kid The Fat Kid Logo - Designed by Scott Lindberg
