Peavey Wolfgang Special Deluxe TR Transparent Cherryburst Flame Custom Shop

Nickname: "Jupiter"
Built: April 2004
Acquired: October 2006
Story: With Wolfgang #15 I finally let myself have it. Robert, provider of my cherished #4 dark cherryburst, posted this Custom Shop Wolfgang on eBay. He and I exchanged a few emails, and after chewing on things for a day--and literally flipping a coin--I opted to buy. Though I already technically owned a Wolfgang from the Custom Shop (the gloss black stop tail Special), this guitar represented a genuine Custom Shop Wolfgang. The color, deemed "cherryburst" by Peavey, was only available via custom order, as was the case with the rosewood fingerboard; the flame maple top is also one of the most rippling and vibrant I've ever seen. There have been fancier Custom Shop Wolfgangs produced (those with matching figured headstock veneers are indeed very cool), but this guitar still exemplifies the best in top quality craftsmanship and materials the Wolfgang Custom Shop was known for during its brief run. (There were only about 500 Custom Shop Wolfgangs ever made.) Regarding playability, I'd call this one of my best. I'd love to keep this Wolfgang 100% mint, but I buy these to play them; so Jupiter (a 2001: A Space Odyssey reference) has seen playing time the same as the rest, and its live debut came with AT/DT at our Halloween 2006 show--just a few days after its arrival.
