Each previous profile can be found in the News Archive section. #19 Peavey Wolfgang Special TR Green Custom Nickname: "Fern" Built: N/A (Body: 1999 / Neck: 1998) Acquired: December 2006 – February 2008 Story: Wolfgang #19 is, in its current state, another from-parts custom project. It represents my first-ever attempt to completely strip and re-finish a guitar body. And the process has been time-consuming; I began initial work on this guitar in February 2007. Nearly a year later it is still not completed, though very close. (There were extended intervals of time, however, where I was not actively working on this or any guitar projects.) In escalating fashion I became more ambitious with this Wolfgang project; I removed the original gloss ivory finish (with seven-plus hours of sanding), routed the top edge for and then installed a cream binding (an afterthought that came about while browsing the StewMac website for finishing materials), stained the entire body transparent green, and at present I am applying multiple layers of clear coat. The hours of work have been countless. The main parts of this guitar will be all Wolfgang stock, but it will feature a Fernandes Sustainer System which includes a pickup, mounted in the neck position, and circuit board, mounted in the bottom control cavity (which needed to be almost doubled in size in order to house both the circuit board and battery). The two Sustainer control switches will come up just under and back from the volume knob; the first turns the Sustainer pickup on and off, and the second activates the pickup to send magnetic pulses to the strings that can either infinitely vibrate the strings or induce harmonic feedback. For looks all the trimmings will be cream to match the binding--tuner buttons, toggle switch cover, and volume knob. A re-vamped profile description will be posted here, along with pictures, when Wolfgang #19 is completed! Removing the original ivory finish - February 2007 Routed for binding - March 2007
