03/27/2008 @ 02:16 PM: I've had my opinions about this now five-year-old war--strong ones, in fact. And after this much time and so many deaths I'm sure the impact is reaching more and more people.

Today word came that an old friend, Paul Reuben, a former St. Louis Park cop, was found dead in Iraq. He was providing security for a contractor and was abducted more than 16 months ago.

I knew Paul when he was a police officer. He often suggested we get together and play guitar, and he even jokingly pulled me over in my car once for no other reason than to see my reaction.

I'm angry, but mostly I'm sad. To see Paul's kids and wife in the photo taken today is simply heartbreaking.
