04/02/2008 @ 03:10 AM: My oldest and best friend, Pete, has been in the Marines since we graduated high school together in 1993. He's also been a licensed pilot since just shortly after that (and was in fact my flight instructor during the summer of 1996). For each of my completed custom guitars I have posted info and photos to my website, a blog on my MySpace page, and sent out an email to various friends. Pete, in his own classic mocking fashion, wrote a reply to my recent mailing on DT's Cherryburst Strat. I found it to be quite amusing, and so with Pete's permission I have posted it here for the enjoyment of others as well. I built it in my garage like the others. I flew it yesterday by pushing it off the roof. It didn't go very far, and man, am I glad it has seatbelts! Unlike other planes I've built that were custom-designed from car parts and maybe boats, I approached this one in a very basic fashion, crafting it from bicycles, a trampoline, and a spatula. I'd like to thank Trek 830, Schwinn Roadmaster with Reynolds 531 tubing, Suntour powertrains, BMX Freestyle, Huffy 201-series, Nissan (for the steering wheel), Super-Bounce, Inc., and Blanco Chef (for the spatula). With Pete in the cockpit of his T-45 - August 2000
